WSU launches undergraduate biomedical degree program to address health worker shortage – WSU Insider


Following the nationwide outflow of health care workers after the pandemic, Washington State University is stepping up to meet the growing demand for pharmacists, doctors, and other health care providers. The new Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical and Medical Sciences program is designed to help Community Her College students enter the healthcare field.

“We are delighted that two of WSU’s premier health science colleges have partnered to develop this unique joint degree program,” said Daryll DeWald, executive vice president of WSU Health Sciences. “This degree not only paves the way for students to further their education in the health sciences, but also opens the door to immediate employment in both health-related research and professional settings.”

The new degree is the first program in the Pacific Northwest to offer a professional pathway to a professional degree program and a career in research and drug development. The class he will start at WSU Spokane in the fall of 2024 will have 50 seats available for him in the first class.

The program is a collaborative effort between the College of Pharmacy and Pharmacy and the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine and is taught by leading faculty from both WSU universities, preparing students for graduate degrees in pharmacy, medicine and dentistry. To do. and graduate school.
