Tao Geogigan Hart undergoes successful surgery after crash at Giro d’Italia

Tao Gioghegan Hart has had successful surgery to repair fractures to his hip and femur after falling on the 11th stage of the Giro d’Italia.

The Ineos Grenadiers co-leader was out of the race on Wednesday after several riders fell past the top of the Corra di Bossi climb with 69km remaining in the race. He couldn’t stand, he was injured and knew the Giro was over, so he instructed his team-mates to continue without him.
