State Senate Sends Bill to Governors Restricting Health Care for Transgender Children – Decaturish

The House amended the bill to remove language protecting doctors from civil or criminal charges for violating the proposed new law.

Rep. Josh Bonner (R-Fayetteville) sponsored the bill in the House.

“This bill prohibits health care providers from performing surgery or prescribing hormone therapy for the purpose of changing the gender of anyone under the age of 18,” he said on the floor on March 16. .

He added that doctors could face sanctions from the General State Coroner’s Board or the Regional Health Department if they violate the proposed law. may be included.
