Smallest baby born by cesarean section at Health Park Medical Center

At just 9 1/2 ounces (less than a can of Coke), Darionna is the smallest baby ever born at Healthpark Medical Center.

Dalionna’s mother, Tikia White, describes Dalionna as a fighter, lovable, and brave. And looking at some of the videos she shared with WINK News, there’s no doubt about that.

“She’s growing slowly but surely,” White said.

Darionna was born at 25 weeks old and weighed only 270 grams. After her delivery, she was transferred to the NICU at Golisano Children’s Hospital.

“She’s as big as you could possibly hold her from my fingertips to my wrists. If Dad had his hand in there, hey, you might be in the middle! But she’s so tiny.” , very, very small,” White said.

White said Dalionna was in perfect health despite her premature birth.

“It’s perfectly normal, her head isn’t scanning the blood in her brain,” White said.

It is also said that Dariona has a pretty big personality.

“Sometimes she doesn’t want to be touched, so the little monitor starts going off. So if you leave her alone, she’ll be fine. That’s why she’s a little cocky. He’s a fighter,” White said.

On April 28, White underwent a routine check-up, when doctors realized there was not enough fluid around Dalionna. Ninety minutes later, doctors prepared Darionna for an emergency caesarean section.

“She was so small they couldn’t put the tube down. But whatever they did, they did it. And she’s been fighting ever since.” said White.

Dalionna remains in the NICU and likely will for some time, but she and her mother are inseparable. Ms. White is also looking forward to the day when she can finally hold her daughter.

“I can’t wait for skin-to-skin contact, just like I would touch her or hug her little hand or something like that,” White said.

White told WINK News that she will soon be able to hold her daughter if she gains more weight. Her message to mothers who may be going through a difficult pregnancy is to keep praying and keep hoping.
