This year’s World Food Prize winners will be announced at the 2023 World Food Prize Presentation Ceremony on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 10:00 am at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC.
Secretary of State Antony J. Brinken will deliver the address, and Ambassador Terry Branstad, President of the World Food Prize Foundation, will announce the names of this year’s laureates. Thomas J. Vilsack, Secretary of Agriculture. Jose W. Fernandez, Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment. Ramin Tolui, Assistant Secretary for Economics and Business. Global Food Security Envoy Carrie Fowler. USAID Global Food Crisis Coordinator Dina Esposito will also speak.
The World Food Prize recognizes the achievements of individuals who advance human development by improving the quality, quantity or availability of the world’s food. This event marks the 37th anniversary of the World Food Prize.
The ceremony will be open to the press directly and will be live-streamed on the department’s homepage.
