School of Medicine Recognizes 2nd Graduation of Dean’s Diversity Champions | VTX

Seven faculty members and students from Virginia Tech’s Carillion School of Medicine have been named Dean Diversity Champions. This is the second year the school has honored individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the development of more diverse, equitable and inclusive communities.

“Our core values ​​believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to excellence, mutual respect and humanism,” said Lee Liarman, dean of the school. “We applaud this year’s honorees for helping create an inclusive environment and making diversity a priority so that all can thrive.”

Students, faculty and staff nominated winners who were then selected by the school’s diversity, equity and inclusion team. Recipients are encouraged to organize training and educational events for underrepresented populations, volunteer with organizations such as the Bradley Free Clinic, and interfaith to explore how religion and medicine intersect.
