QUEENSBURY, NY (NEWS10) – Over the weekend, a popular area restaurant offered a stop and steak for a longtime employee facing a medical emergency. Silo in Queensbury raised him $1,000 for servers over the weekend. That server’s absence was felt by locals coming in for heaping pancakes and fresh cider donuts.
Silo chef and restaurant manager Frank Otte said, “Given the number of guests here, it’s shocking how many people know her by heart and want her out.” , people really miss her.”
The employee in question is Devon Stockton, who has been with The Silo for nine years. Stockton recently ruptured a disc in his neck and faces costly surgery to begin his road to recovery.
To aid your journey down that road, The Silo sold “Devon’s Steak and Eggs.” It’s a hearty breakfast, and all proceeds go to help Stockton go through surgery and recovery. The featured 8-ounce strip steak, donated by Us Foods, sold out over the weekend. Otte said busy restaurant patrons from around Queensbury and Glens his Falls came out in full force. He purchased 12 orders for the local auto dealer to take back for its employees.
Stockton estimates it will take 10 to 11 weeks to recover from the surgery. Steaks have sold out, but The Silo staff and customers are eagerly awaiting the return of one of their family members.
“Nobody starves her,” said Otte.
