Stoltenberg outlined that maintaining support for Ukraine would include increasing arms and ammunition production, engaging with industry and advancing joint procurement efforts. He stressed that he expects NATO allies to agree to ambitious new defense investment commitments at his Vilnius summit in July.
The Secretary-General welcomed the progress made by Finland and Sweden on their path to NATO membership. This includes the near ratification of Finland’s accession by Hungary and Turkey. He further reiterated his strong commitment to ensure that Sweden’s accession is also completed as soon as possible.
The PES will be held in Brussels prior to the European Council. It brings together European socialist, social democratic, labor and democratic heads of state, heads of government and other high-level political figures.
