New Director of Infection Prevention at UR Medical Thompson – Finger Lakes Daily News


Canandaigua’s Stacey Gibbs was recently appointed Director of Infection Prevention at UR Medicine Thompson Health.

With a bachelor’s degree in nursing science from the University of Pittsburgh, Gibbs began her nursing career at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Shadyside Hospital. She then worked as a nursing manager at a skilled nursing facility in Kane, Pennsylvania, and in 2017, she joined MM Her Ewing Her Continuing Care Her Center, a Thompson skilled nursing facility, as a nursing manager for the first time. In 2019, Ms. Gibbs was appointed Associate Development and Infection Prevention Coordinator for the Continuing Care Center, a role she has held throughout the pandemic while creating learning opportunities for nursing staff. She is a member of the Professional Association for Infection Control and Epidemiology and is certified in infection prevention in long-term care by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Mr. Gibbs is a two-time recipient of the Thompson Shining Star Award, which is given to the top 2% of employees in the health system based on peer recommendations.
