MU Health Care Reveals Patient Data Breach | Mid-Missouri News


MU Health Care said it is mailing notices to patients whose medical records may have been improperly accessed by an employee.

MU Healthcare said in a news release on Wednesday that it learned on March 20 that the individual had improperly accessed health information in his electronic medical record (EMR).

The agency immediately launched an investigation and suspended staff access to the records.

According to the release, an investigation found that employees used EMR to gain unauthorized access to 736 records between July and March 2021.

MU Healthcare spokesman Eric Mays said he was unable to provide further information on the member’s job status due to personnel matters.

According to the release, the information accessed may have included patient information including name, date of birth, medical record number, and limited therapeutic and/or clinical information such as diagnosis and/or treatment information. It is said that there is
