Monogram and RTI are partners in telesurgery communication

Surgical robot developer Monogram Orthopedic has partnered with Real-Time Innovations (RTI) to incorporate RTI’s Connext Anywhere platform into telesurgery communications.

This software provides data flow over intermittent networks based on Data Delivery Service (DSS). The software’s Cloud Discovery Service will allow Monogram to connect its own applications over the network.

“To enable telesurgery, systems need high fidelity, low latency and secure communication over mobile and wide area networks,” said Darren Porath, Market Development Manager, Medical Division at RTI. increase.

“Connext Anywhere addresses some of the biggest technical challenges in teleoperation today.

In March 2023, Monogram announced that it had completed the world’s first fully remote robot-assisted total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Monogram combines a personalized knee implant with a precision robotic surgical assistant. The Austin, Texas-based company says it can use advances in robotic technology to solve orthopedic surgery failures and complications.

Current robotic surgical systems enhance the work of surgeons. Telesurgery is an emerging field that uses wireless communications to connect surgeons and patients in different locations. Despite limitations on communication line latency and reliability, the technology is driving the surgical robot market, with GlobalData predicting he will be worth $7.1 billion by 2030. Orthopedic robotic surgical systems are projected to account for $2 billion of this value.

Monogram launched its IPO on Thursday the 18thth Raised $17 million before market close in May.
