Melrose Hospital Receives C Grade in National Health Safety Assessment


Melrose, Massachusetts – Melrose Wakefield Hospital was one of 17 hospitals in Massachusetts to be evaluated for patient safety, according to the medical nonprofit Leapfrog Group.

The grading is based on over 30 national performance indicators that reflect errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, and the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. The rating system is peer-reviewed, completely transparent, and open to the public.

“Melrose Wakefield Hospital takes great pride in providing safe, high-quality care to our community. “It is reflected in the Leapfrog grade,” Melrose Wakefield spokesman Will Courtney said in a statement. and we are continuously looking for ways to strengthen it.”

In Massachusetts, 21 hospitals received an A rating, 18 hospitals received a B rating, 17 hospitals received a C rating, and one hospital received a D rating. No hospital in the state received an F.
