HCA Healthcare, which operates medical city hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, will acquire 41 emergency care centers in Texas from FastMed.
The deal significantly expands the Nashville-based for-profit provider’s emergency care operations, now operating a total of 268 clinics. The agreement includes 19 FastMed and 22 MedPost emergency care centers in Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston and El Paso.
Terms were not disclosed. HCA’s revenue last year saw him grow to $60 billion, with profits reportedly surpassing his $5.6 billion.

HCA Healthcare operates one of the largest healthcare networks in Texas. It has 45 hospitals, 395 doctor’s clinics and 92 emergency centers. The company said it has invested $6.6 billion in the state over the past six years to expand its presence.
The deal with Fastmed is expected to close this summer. Farmers Branch-based Tenet Healthcare sold its emergency care center to Fastmed for his $80 million in 2020.
According to research firm UnivDatos Market Insights, the emergency center market is projected to grow at an annual rate of 4.5% through 2028. Fueling this growth are sports-related injuries, back pain, skin conditions, and seasonal illnesses such as colds and flu. Exercise equipment injuries alone will reach 409,000 in 2021.
In 2020, Arlington-based Texas Health Resources invested $44 million to open 20 Breeze emergency care centers in northern Texas.
Boston-based private equity firm Abry Partners acquired Fastmed in 2015, then merged with another emergency care provider, NextCare. The combined company operates approximately 200 emergency care clinics in five states under the FastMed, CareSpot and MedPost brands.
The HCA acquisition does not include FastMed’s emergency care sites located outside of Texas.
