Massachusetts Chan College of Medicine Celebrates 2023 Admissions Week

Massachan Medical College’s graduation ceremony will once again be held under a tent in the green of the campus.

Award-winning journalist Katie Couric will deliver the keynote address as Massachusetts Chan College of Medicine celebrates its 50th graduation ceremony and Class of 2023 on Sunday, June 4.

The degrees will be awarded to 287 students from TH Chan School of Medicine, Tan Chingfen School of Nursing and Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

Couric, former NBC host today Shaw and co-founder of the cancer research charity Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) will be awarded an honorary degree.

An honorary degree is Chairman of Dubai-based investment firm Blue Stone Management Limited and Co-Founder and Trustee of the Seman Foundation, a charity that supports initiatives in the fields of education, healthcare and welfare. Tania Issa Seman will also be awarded. Social Welfare; Dr. Luke O’Neill, Professor and Professor of Biochemistry, Trinity College Dublin;

In the days leading up to graduation, several events will be held to honor outstanding faculty, staff and students, and to honor the achievements of our graduates.

upon Thursday, June 1, Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences will host the 14th Annual Student Academic Achievement Awards Ceremony at 3:00 p.m. in the Albert Sherman Center Auditorium. Following the ceremony, a reception will be held in the atrium outside the Albert Sherman Center Cube. The event will be streamed live on YouTube.

Also on Thursday, Tan Qing Feng Graduate School of Nursing will host an award and scholarship award ceremony in the auditorium of the Albert Sherman Center at 5:30 p.m. and live stream on YouTube. A reception will follow in the Sherman Center Multipurpose Room.

upon Friday, June 2nd, TH Chang Medical School Alumni will host and live stream their annual breakfast at 9:00 a.m. in the Sherman Center Multipurpose Room. Distinguished Medical Educator Awards will be presented and members of the 2023 class will be welcomed as alumni.

Also on Friday, Massachusetts Chang Chapter of White Coats for Black Lives and Diversity and Inclusion Office commemorates Dr. Deborah Harmon Hines, former Lieutenant Governor of School Services and Professor of Radiology and Nursing and holds the first Deborah Harmon Hines Graduation Celebration. Dr. Hines is credited with developing and nurturing the School of Medicine’s renowned pipeline programs, including the Worcester Her Pipeline collaboration. Graduates of color from all three schools will be recognized and awarded with kente and multicultural stoles to wear at graduation. The event is open to all graduates starting at 5:00 pm at The Cube at the Albert Sherman Center.

The opening ceremony for 2023 is as follows Sunday 4th June, under a tent on the campus green space in front of the Lazar research building. Guest seating opens at 10:30am and the procession begins at 11:35am. The ceremony will begin promptly at noon.

Class instructors include Sean Boyden from TH Chan School of Medicine, Kathleen Morrill from Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and Amanda Hazeltine from Tan Chingfen School of Nursing.
