Local church hosts free healthcare fair for ‘Old American Moon’


EL PASO, TX (KVIA) — The Association of St. Vincent de Paul hosted a free healthcare fair as part of Older Americans Month.

As part of the two-day health fair, over 50 healthcare vendors and a range of health screenings were offered to promote wellness throughout the community.

“Since we’re young, we think we’re bulletproof and invincible. As we get older, we realize that’s not the case,” said Health Care participant Bill Sutton.

“It’s an opportunity to understand the different options for health, body, and mind,” said Alvaro Mendoza, a health care participant.

“Our community provides much-needed education and services that people don’t know, they just need to know,” said Nancy Peters, member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Congress. gathered to do

Vaccines were provided for flu, COVID, shingles and pneumonia. Nursing and home care agencies were also present along with Vitalant Blood Services who were on site to donate blood.

“We got new information about available services that we didn’t know before,” said Sutton.

“I think it’s a good opportunity for the community to be educated to understand the options we have to make our lives better,” Mendoza said.

“Most of us don’t go out looking for these services, so I think this is very important. It’s great to have multiple services under one roof,” said Sutton.
