Neil Meltzer, President and CEO of LifeBridge Health, has been appointed chairman of the Advisory Committee on Outreach and Education (APOE), a federal medical advisory board to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Meltzer will begin his term as chairman in June.
Established in 1999, APOE encourages the Secretary of Health and Human Services and CMS administrators to educate a wide range of federal health professionals regarding optimal education and outreach strategies with a particular focus on vulnerable and underserved populations. responsible for providing advice and recommendations regarding Care programs and policies such as Medicare, Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Health Insurance Marketplace.
Meltzer will join the Panel in 2022 and was selected as Chair for her extensive experience in healthcare and her community-focused approach to healthcare, as well as her contributions as a member of the Panel last year. Under his leadership, LifeBridge Health has developed significant, innovative and successful approaches to improving the health of the people LifeBridge Health serves.
Meltzer is committed to developing effective strategies to address the challenges faced by the diverse underserved population in central Maryland and beyond. In addition to his background in public health, Meltzer brings a unique perspective in that LifeBridge Health has facilities in both urban and rural communities.
He has also served on many local and civic committees, including the National Health Care Workforce Commission and the Maryland Hospital Association, and is the former National Chair of the American Heart Association.
