KISS frontman Paul Stanley has retracted his criticism of children undergoing gender reassignment surgery, saying his earlier remarks weren’t clear enough.
Stanley previously spoke Monday in a short statement against gender reassignment surgery for children, calling the practice a “sad and dangerous epidemic.”
“My thoughts were clear, but my words clearly weren’t,” Stanley wrote on social media Thursday.

“Most importantly, and most of all, we support those who struggle with their gender identity while enduring constant hostility, and those whose paths lead them to reassignment surgery,” Stanley wrote.
The guitarist concluded his message by saying his feelings on the matter were too complicated to give a short statement.

Stanley’s message is a reorientation of the issue after previously accusing parents of turning the issue into “a game of sorts” by encouraging gender reassignment in their children.
“Teaching acceptance and a lifestyle that confuses young children into a game of sorts and, in some cases, makes them question their gender identity as if their parents allow it. There’s a big difference between normalizing and encouraging participation,” Stanley wrote on Monday.
He continued, “As an adult you may decide that repositioning is a necessary choice, but if you turn this into a game or if a parent normalizes it as some kind of natural alternative, or if a little boy If a girl believes she likes to dress up in her sister’s clothes, or is a girl in her brother’s house, she should lead them down a path far from innocence of what they are doing.”
