Founding Dean and CEO of Pasadena-based Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson Medical College, Dr. Mark A. Schuster will be speaking at the Pasadena Rotary public meeting on May 17 to update the community on the school’s progress.

The recent news of Dr. Schuster’s decision to step down as founding dean and CEO of the school in June 2024 added a new dimension to the event.

Dr. Schuster oversaw the construction of the school’s modern facilities in downtown Pasadena, at the corner of South Los Robles Avenue and East Green Street.

The Faculty of Medicine opened in July 2020. First class of 50 members and A mission to provide world-class medical education that inspires a passion for learning, a desire to serve, and an unwavering commitment to improving the health and well-being of patients and communities.

In a speech at the Pasadena Rotary meeting, Dr. Schuster is expected to provide insight into the school’s achievements and future plans. His key role in promoting diversity, ensuring accreditation, improving the admissions process and shaping the curriculum will be highlighted.

In 2022, US News ranked the school among the most diverse schools in the United States. Today, she ranks as the sixth most diverse medical school in the nation, and he is the second most diverse in California.
