Idaho Chief Deputy Attorney General David DeWist has left the office, an office spokesman confirmed Thursday.
According to Dewhirst’s LinkedIn profile, as of this month, he is a senior adviser to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador announced in November that Mr. Dewhirst would take on the position of top staff in the office. Dewhirst he took office on January 2nd.

Prior to coming to Idaho, he served as Attorney General of Montana. This is the first office he created in the history of the state. Attorney General Austin Knudsen of Montana has appointed him to the position in 2021.
Dewhirst also served as a senior counsel to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce before serving as a clerk to Judge Lawrence Van Dyke of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He assumed this position in his 2018 under the Trump administration.
Dewhirst previously ran the Public Interest Litigation Group at the Freedom Foundation, holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University, and a law degree from George Washington University Law School.
DeSantis will soon announce that he will run for president in the 2024 election.
