Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association Announces 2023 Compassionate Care Veterinary Student Scholarship

HSVMA awards 5 scholarships to veterinary students attending AVMA accredited veterinary schools worldwide

The Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association (HSVMA) has announced that it is accepting applications for its 2023 Compassionate Care Veterinary Student Scholarships (CCVS). The HSVMA will award her $10,000 to five veterinary students in her first, second, or third year at her AVMA-accredited school in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, or the United Kingdom.

The scholarship will be awarded to students who demonstrate an interest in animal welfare, rights and conservation issues and demonstrate a commitment to equitable access and inclusion in the veterinary industry through service and first-hand experience, the organization said in a statement.1 To be eligible for the scholarship, students must have a good academic record and GPA and submit two letters of recommendation. One must be completed by an employed faculty member or clinician and the applicant’s veterinary school. Applicants must also demonstrate an interest in animal welfare and services, or experience in equitable access to care for underserved communities, and provide the expected debt burden.

CCVS requires applicants who certify that they volunteer, work, or serve in marginalized and underserved communities, and who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color. Special consideration will be given to applicants.1
