HACC Partners with UPMC to Offer New Medical Assistant Program


The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and HACC have announced a partnership to support community residents who wish to pursue careers as medical assistants.

Under the partnership, the two organizations said community college graduates who fulfilled UPMC’s operational obligations would receive a payment equivalent to program fees in addition to their salaries. The student must complete at least her two-year work requirement at her UPMC located in Central Pennsylvania facility.

UPMC said it will offer a variety of full-time and part-time position options to accommodate student schedules combined with academics.

Prospective students can enroll in HACC’s new two-semester Medical Assistance Accreditation Program beginning August 28. The application deadline is August 15th. Enrollment for the first semester she is limited to 48 students.

This program is available at both HACC’s Gettysburg and Harrisburg Area Campuses. HACC’s main campus is located at 1 HACC Drive in Harrisburg, and HACC’s Gettysburg Regional Campus is located at 731 Old Harrisburg Road in Cumberland Township, Adams County.

“Medical assistants play an important role in the healthcare field and HACC is proud to partner with UPMC to support them. We will ensure that you get a job right away,” said HACC President and CEO John J. “Ski” Sigielski in a news release.

HACC has a similar medical assistant partnership with Central Penn College in East Pennsboro Township. We also partner with several Pennsylvania colleges and universities on many medical-related programs through the UPMC Scholars Program.
