On Friday, Gov. Henry McMaster issued an executive order to reconvene an extraordinary legislature to address tougher penalties for illegal gun possession, bond reform, the General Appropriations Act, Fetal Heart Rate and Abortion Protection Act, and other issues. issued.

The governor said in a statement:

“The General Assembly made progress this year on several items, including expanding school selection, eliminating required certificates, restructuring the Ministry of Health and Environmental Management, passing the Shield Act and approving a large incentive package for Scout Motors. They’ve brought jobs and prosperity to the nation, but they’re not done yet.”

“The General Assembly did not close the revolving door for criminals. , must pass legislation to stop the state from becoming an abortion destination, so I am directing the General Assembly to return to special session to complete the important work at hand. said McMaster.
