Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landescog will undergo a cartilage transplant in his right knee on Wednesday. As a result, he will miss his entire 2023-24 season as he recovers from injury.
Landskog missed the entire 2022-23 season as he battled a knee injury.
In October 2022, Avalanche announced that Landescog did not attend training camp and underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. At the time of that first injury, the Avalanche star was set to miss an estimated 12 weeks, but didn’t actually play at any point in the 2022-23 season.
Landescog was missing time towards the end of the 2021-22 regular season after undergoing surgery on the same knee in March 2022. However, the Colorado star returned to the team’s Stanley Cup his run, scoring 20 points (11 goals, 9 assists). in 20 games during that stretch. Landskog was also a regular in the 2021–22 season, in which he scored 59 goals (30 goals, 29 assists) in his 51 appearances in the 2021–22 season, before undergoing his first knee surgery.
Way back in 2020, Landskog underwent four different surgeries on his right knee.
The Avalanche forward is currently signed through the 2028-29 season after signing an eight-year, $56 million contract extension in 2021. In his 11 seasons with Colorado he scored 248 goals and 323 assists.
