Three food trucks are ready to serve a variety of take-out treats this year at Bangor Waterfront, with seven more to be installed in other towns in the area.
New to the waterfront this year is Ca C’est Bon, a Cajun food truck serving Louisiana fare since January in a shared restaurant space at 1492 State St. in Vesey. Kick off the food truck summer season with a sold-out crawfish boil on May 6, then transition to regular weekday lunchtimes. The menu features Cajun classics such as gumbo, jambalaya, etouffee, po boys, and muffaletta sandwiches.
Nora’s Grill is back on the waterfront this year, serving burgers, hot dogs, and hand-cut fries for lunch. Official hours and opening dates have not been announced. Wild Cow Creamery opens on the waterfront late in the season in June, with an array of locally made ice cream in cones, sundaes, and sandwiches.
Pompeii Pizza has been on the waterfront for more than 10 seasons, but won’t be opening there this year. Instead, owner Will Carney plans to serve wood-fired pizza at public and private events in Maine.
Jamaica’s food truck, JJ’s Jerk Shack, will be participating in pop-up events throughout the region rather than at specific locations.
Bangor Parks and Recreation Director Tracy Willett said there are still two open spots on the waterfront for those interested in parking their food trucks and trailers there during the summer. To apply for a spot, call Bangor Parks and Recreation at 207-992-4490.
Little Red Snack Shack will not return to Bangor’s waterfront. Instead, set up in Harmon’s Trident His Armory just off Route 2, they serve signature hand-breaded chicken tenders and ribbon fries at lunchtime from 11 a.m. Monday through Friday, and on weekends. Open in late summer. The season starts on May 11th.
Not far from the Hermon-Bangor line, The Lobstah Buoy is already in its seventh season at the Movie Rocket parking lot at 268 Odlin Road, serving lobster rolls and Maine Monday through Friday from 11am to 5pm. serves fried seafood.
At Brewer, this Lil Piggy will enjoy a second season of barbecue and sweets in the Brewer Auditorium parking lot Tuesday through Thursday from 11am to 3pm. Brisket, baked peas, pulled pork, and other smoked goods are served alongside mac and cheese, nachos, and desserts.
In Hampden, Mainely Tacos enters its second season in May at Erickson’s Hardware parking lot on Main Road. Last year was the truck’s first season of cooking Tex-Mex-style tacos, quesadillas, and other Southwestern treats. Opening hours and official opening days have not been announced.
And in Orono, newcomer Friends Without Benefit opened last week at 56 Main Street in downtown Orono, serving gourmet burgers and fries. Open for lunch and dinner from 11am Thursday to Sunday during spring and summer.
YumBus, a food truck serving Maine farm-sourced tacos and crepes for breakfast and lunch, will be at the Orono Farmers Market Saturdays 8am-noon and Sundays 11am-1:30pm It will be set up again at the Bangor Farmers Market. .
