Food truck festival planned at Calder Plaza

Grand Rapids, Michigan — One of Grand Rapids’ biggest food truck festivals is happening this Sunday.

Hosted by the Grand Rapids Food Truck Association, the Rolled Out Food Truck Festival will be held on Sunday, May 21, for the fifth time. The festival will be held on Ottawa Avenue and Calder Plaza.

Organizers say the festival will feature 44 food trucks and trailers. Food trucks open at 11am and stay at the event until 8pm.

At the festival, Kids Food Basket will host a Kids’ Zone to collect items to combat food insecurity. Anyone who brings a shopping bag filled with items requested by the Kids Food Basket will be awarded $5 food truck dollars to spend at the festival food trucks. Grocery bags must contain at least four of the requested items: fruit cups or pouches, pudding cups, meat sticks, brown lunch bags, cheerios, pretzels, and cheese crackers.

In addition to food trucks, there will be 30 local vendors, live music and a beer tent.

Food trucks participating in the festival include:

  • airborne burrito
  • big mic kettle cone
  • Curry in a hurry
  • crepe by the lake
  • dune buggy
  • El Jalapeno
