Food at the 85th Annual West Tennessee Strawberry Festival

Humboldt, Tennessee — The 85th Annual West Tennessee Strawberry Festival is back in downtown Humboldt.

“We have a barbecue and rib stand. Cook has also won multiple awards for ‘Best in Show’ at the Southaven Spring Best and is a Top 3 at the Memphis in May Barbeque Cook Off. his ribs are great. He sells them down to a snack size, two ribs and a slab,” said Cody Casper, concession manager for the PBJ Happee Day Shows.

This year there will also be a new turkey smokers stand serving turkey legs and Mexican street food.

“They’re big, jumbo, two-pound turkeys. You almost need two hands to hold them. There’s Mexican Street Corn. The guys put all the coriander and a little cayenne pepper. A little bit, not too spicy,” said Casper.

The featured new dessert is the strawberry waffle sundae.

“They eat waffles to warm them up, and they put ice cream on top. “Yeah,” Casper said.

On top of that, we have all the original favorites such as corn dogs, funnel cakes, cotton candy, and pizza. You name it, they got it.

“There are probably 25 or so food vendors at the festival, in addition to what PBJ brings to the party. There’s the fabric, says Beth Culpepper, event coordinator at the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce.

A new addition to the festival is the food court in the senior center parking lot.

“So we barricaded this area off, making it a great place for families to sit and let the kids run around. It’s safe. You can buy food from another vendor or pick up something there and enjoy your time at the festival,” Culpeper said.
