Food and drink preparation for the PGA Championship

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) — Today, News 8 takes an inside look at the food and drink preparations for next week’s PGA Championship. Once spectators enter the gates of Oak Hill, there is plenty of food and drink on offer, with a variety of options to choose from. One of the biggest benefits is how easy it is to get snacks for everyone at the venue.

The PGA Championship is expected to draw over 225,000 spectators. Patina Restaurant Group PGA Championship general manager Eric Babook said the influx of people had to start preparing in October 2021.

“Everything in sight has to be planned. The trucks arriving have to match the height of the dock with the number of ovens and equipment, so you know what your attendees will look like in Rochester. So we’re very fortunate that the community loves the event,” he said.

He went on to explain that about 312,000 beers and 75,000 hot dogs are consumed in a week. There will also be multiple food and drink access points so that visitors can easily pick up something as they move from hall to hall. Babook says he has six kitchens and seven markets.

This year, the PGA of America is running a slightly different ticket sale in Tulsa than last year. Now give everyone a Champs Plus Ticket, which includes all meals included in the ticket price. Only alcohol is excluded from it.

The championship starts Thursday.
