Prime Minister opens £33m new facility.

A new state-of-the-art medical facility has been opened by the Prime Minister that will significantly improve the national capacity for orthopedic surgery.

Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon said:

“The additional capacity provided through this new state-of-the-art facility will also help reduce the backlog of planned care exacerbated by the global pandemic. We are confident that this program will be a huge boost as the NHS recovers from COVID.”

Rt Hon Tricia Marwick, Chair of the Fife NHS Board, said:

“We are delighted that the new National Treatment Center in Fife is now open to patients.

“The new purpose-built facility is the culmination of many years of work and it is wonderful to see patients being seen and treated in such a new, state-of-the-art environment. Kudos to all involved, especially considering the additional challenges of building during a pandemic.

We have an incredibly positive and innovative orthopedic team here in Fife, and this new facility will support them in providing the highest standards of care for our patients. ”
