ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) – Several students and the bus driver were released from the hospital Friday afternoon after receiving emergency medical care on a school bus in Rowan County.
Eight students and their driver became ill and were taken to the hospital after they began vomiting, according to a school district spokesperson.
Bus number 372 is Hanford Doll Elementary School.
The driver stopped at the local fire station after passengers on the bus began to feel unwell.
The driver stopped at the Millers Ferry Volunteer Fire Station after the driver and passengers began to get sick.
Several ambulances were called to the fire department, including one from Davidson County.
Firefighters tended to those on board while they waited for medical personnel to arrive.
Students who did not get sick were picked up by their parents at the fire station.
A spokesperson for the district said several staff members at Rowan Salisbury School and the principal of Hanford Dole also responded.
Initial tests did not reveal the cause of the incident, and the bus was taken out of service for evaluation.
