East Vandergrift Officials Launch New Food Truck Friday Event


A new food truck event is taking place in East Vandergrift.

Food Truck Friday is the latest community event sponsored by the East Vandergrift Community Foundation.

Eat, drink and socialize in a street fair atmosphere at this monthly get-together.

Held on the second Friday of every month from May to October.Monthly festival hours are 4pm to 8pm

Organizers have reserved eight food trucks for the first gathering on Friday.

“Residents are really excited to see Food Truck Fridays kick off,” said Foundation President Karen Birostec. “Guests will visit with friends and family, make new friends, and take a culinary tour while attending the event.”

Food trucks park along Chambers Street. Conny Creek Brewing Co., Del Vecchio’s Sausage & Fries, Casita Bonita, Kaczor Ravioli, Hot Ash Wood Fired Pizza, Little C’s Concessions, Ash & Kris Kitchen, and Wok on Wheels will be featured.

Serving Italian, Puerto Rican, Asian and American cuisine, menu items include Italian sausage, pizza, chicken, funnel cakes, fresh cut fries, ravioli, and specialty sandwiches.

Live music includes Oui Duet.

A large tent with a table is provided.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.

“The basic goal of this event is to bring activity back to the borough,” said Virostek. “East Vandergrift has been and will continue to be a vibrant community.”

Lee Layton, co-owner of Conny Creek Brewing Co. in Allegheny Township, will take one of his portable brew wagons to a food truck in East Vanderglift on Friday.

Lee Layton, co-owner and head brewer of Conny Creek Brewing Co., has expanded the schedule of beer truck events for those who haven’t yet visited the two breweries in Allegheny Township and Saxonburg. .

“People are excited about the new small town event and this could be well organized,” Layton said.

Look for summer ales, premium lagers, IPAs, and other rotating beers.

Tommy Skanga, a third-generation butcher and Vandergrift native, owns and operates Del Vecchio’s Sausage & Fries. He said he’s looking forward to joining his track on the hood at Vandergrift East on Friday.

Tommy Scanga of Del Vecchio’s Sausage & Fries, who grew up in nearby Vandergrift, said the event would draw large crowds.

“East Vandergrift has a great community and we know people are really excited,” says Scanga. “They will make it happen and we will explode. East he loves supporting Vandergrift.”

“Join the fun in a small town with a big heart,” Birostec said.
