Coroner confirms woman killed by car while crossing road

A woman who was hit and killed by a car while crossing South Side Street earlier this week has been identified by the Bexar County coroner.

Maria Demorida, 74, died of blunt force injuries sustained in the accident, ME said.

Police said the driver who hit Demorider did not see her and the boy crossing the road before the crash. No criminal charges will be filed.


A 75-year-old woman was killed Thursday night after being hit by a car while crossing South Side Street, San Antonio police said.

The incident occurred around 9:05 pm on Block 1600 of Pleasanton Road near Birtham and Cliff Avenues.

A woman and a teenage boy were crossing the road when a car drove towards them, police said.

SAPD said the driver didn’t see them crossing and hit the woman on the road.

First responders attempted to resuscitate the woman but were unsuccessful. Police said she died at the scene. The boy was unharmed.

Authorities said the driver pulled over to help, but said the crash was considered an accident and no charges would be filed.
