Candidates for Election at the 2023 Annual Meeting: Daniel Lee, MD


Elections will take place at the Annual Meeting of the House of Representatives on June 13, 2023.

The officers and seven councils are elected by the American Medical Association House of Representatives (HOD) at its annual meeting. Elections will be conducted during special election sessions under the supervision of the Rules and Credentials Committee and Chief Treasurer appointed by the Speaker. The Chair and Vice-Chair are responsible for the overall management of the election. Voting will be by secret ballot.



2023-2025


Daniel Lee is a neurologist currently completing an internship at the University of South Alabama. He grew up in Chesterfield, Virginia, a suburb of Richmond, before moving to Columbia, South Carolina, where he graduated with honors, majoring in biology and minoring in neuroscience.

During that time, he has conducted research in medical school investigating the underlying neurochemical pathways involved in PTSD. He completed medical school at the University of South Carolina at Greenville and has been a member of the AMA since starting his medical school in 2018. He previously served as Associate Speaker for the Medical Student Section (MSS) and is currently Chair of the School of Medicine. Residents and Fellows Committee on Medical Education.

  • 2023 RFS division representative sponsored by AAN.
  • Served as the only medical student on the AMA House Resolutions Committee at the November 2021 Special Session.
  • Served as 2020-2021 co-speaker for MSS.
  • Elected as MSS’s Regional Representative to the AMA House of Representatives for calendar year 2020.
  • Member of the 2019-2020 MSS House Coordinating Committee.
  • Member of the MSS I-19 Reference Committee.
