Bloods Gang Self-Proclaimed ‘Four-Star General’ Shot Dead in New Jersey

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and Trenton Police are investigating the shooting Friday night of an alleged leader of the “Bloods” street gang.

Self-proclaimed “Four Star General” Shareef Treadwell of the Trenton Gangsta Kira Bloods was shot dead near Oakland and Hoffman streets. Trenton police received a call about the shooting at about 8:42 p.m. and found a car speeding down Hoffman Street crashing into several parked vehicles, according to the Mercer County Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said Treadwell, 36, was shot “multiple times”. Officers administered first aid to the victim and took him to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

So far, no arrests have been made. The Mercer County Homicide Task Force is urging anyone with information to contact Detective Elijah Phillips (609) 414-2006 or Sgt. Roberto Reyes (609) 256-0997. Information can also be emailed to him at mchtftips@mercercounty.org.

Treadwell was charged with attempted murder twice in 2006 and 2014 for alleged involvement in the shooting, but both charges were dismissed.

In the second case, Treadwell and three accomplices were charged with engaging in a shootout with rival gang members in a courtyard on Coolidge Avenue in Trenton. No one was injured, but authorities said a mother and her 7-year-old child narrowly escaped the barrage of bullets.

Treadwell escaped and was arrested by a SWAT team a few days later in Falls Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He was initially posted on $50 million bail by Pennsylvania authorities before being extradited to New Jersey. Treadwell and his alleged accomplice were charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon in 2015.
