Before and after photos, recovery

Spider vein laser therapy is a minimally invasive procedure that lyses targeted blood vessels with a targeted beam of light. It may take several weeks after the procedure to see results.

Laser therapy is one of the most common ways to treat spider veins, also called telangiectasia. Spider veins are usually not a medical problem, but some people may want to remove them for cosmetic reasons.

After laser treatment, spider veins are gradually destroyed over several weeks. Depending on the size and location of the spider vein, additional sessions may be required to completely remove it.

Here’s what else you should know about your upcoming healing journey.

There are two main types of laser therapy:

  • Surface laser therapy: This approach is often used to treat larger spider veins and varicose veins. This involves directing a beam of light at a target vein to heat it up and eventually destroy it.
  • Intravenous laser therapy (EVLT): This method involves making a small incision in the skin and inserting the laser probe directly into the vein.

Intense pulsed light therapy isn’t exactly a type of laser treatment, but it’s similar. Instead of a focused beam of light, an intense pulse of light is directed into the veins from outside the skin.

Many people find that their spider veins are significantly less visible after one session of laser treatment. However, it will probably take multiple sessions to completely remove the spider veins.

The number of sessions required will vary greatly depending on the size, volume and location of the veins you wish to remove. Most people expect that he will need 1-6 sessions to achieve the desired results.

If your spider veins are small, you may see immediate results. However, larger veins may take weeks to collapse, break down, and fade.

Again, it may take several sessions for the veins to completely disappear.

After treatment, the area may be bruised, red, or swollen for up to several hours. You may also experience a tingling sensation similar to that of a sunburn. Cool packs can be used during this time to reduce inflammation.

After that, you can resume your day-to-day operations as usual. The vein will continue to be destroyed over the next few weeks. To promote healing, wear SPF and keep the treatment area out of the sun as much as possible.

Technically, laser treatment results are permanent. As long as the original vein and attached vein are successfully removed, the original vein will not grow back.

However, it is still possible for new spider veins to emerge over time. Staying active by elevating your legs regularly can help prevent new spider veins from forming.

After laser treatment to remove spider veins, the skin may be red and bruised for up to several hours. You may notice results for small spider veins, but large spider veins become less noticeable in a few weeks. Please note that multiple sessions may be required to completely remove spider veins.
