Camp Hill, Pennsylvania (WHTM) — The owner of a local barbecue food truck recently announced plans to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant in the near future.
Get Smok’d BBQ is owned and operated by Mike Weierbach and Erin Weierbach. According to the Weirbachs, Erin is from the Camp Hill area and Mike is from Lancaster County and temporarily moved to Michigan in 2010.
“When we first got together, I asked her what she always wanted. She always said she wanted to run a food truck.” I did.”
“We both love people and have an entrepreneurial spirit,” Erin added. “Mike always loved to cook for his friends and family, and one day I said to him, ‘Let’s do it.'”
The couple’s food truck first entered service in Midstate on May 18, 2016. Weirbach’s says they make everything on their BBQ menu from scratch, including sauces, spice rubs and sides.
Also note that Mike prefers to do all his smoking the “traditional way”, using a real meat smoker fueled by applewood chips.
For years, the couple had been playing with the idea of opening a restaurant location to get a bigger kitchen to meet greater demand. It also provides additional opportunities. They don’t have to rely solely on her truck for food.
Get Smok’d BBQ’s new 3,000-square-foot restaurant will accommodate up to 50 people indoors, with some outdoor seating, Mike said.
When it opens, the owner hopes to create about 6 jobs initially, but as time goes on and the business grows, he hopes to eventually employ 15-20 people. .

- Thursday – Saturday 11:00am – 9:00pm (or until stock runs out)
Note that the new restaurant will offer vegetarian and gluten-free options, as well as menu items from the Get Smok’d BBQ food truck. Also, the Get Smok’d BBQ food truck will continue to operate after the new restaurant opens.
“[opening Get Smok’d BBQ’s restaurant] It’s scary and exciting,” Erin said. “We want to create a space for people to eat good food and talk to each other. I have.”
“The food is great, but I’m excited to connect with the local community,” Mike added.
Weierbach’s says they’re still awaiting final inspections of the restaurant’s location, but hope to debut the new restaurant in June 2023.
