“I was just setting myself up to sit comfortably and ‘Pow! Pow! Pow!'” she said.
The police-issued 911 call shares Bridges’ terrifying tone. The woman who called was not named, but West explained that she heard gunshots coming from her office in the Northside Medical Sheriff’s Midtown building on Peachtree Street.
“Have you ever seen someone get hurt?” the dispatch operator asks the caller.
After speaking to the doctor in the office, the woman said in a trembling voice that the doctor saw someone lying on the floor near the elevator. Doctors called the suspect for help and could not see.
Bridges’ niece, Carmen Point-Kelly, said her aunt could have been caught in the shootout under various circumstances. helped her sit in another chair before going to the bathroom.
“And the woman was lying on the ground in the same chair I always put her in,” Point Kelly told Channel 2. “She was shot in the arm.
Five women were shot, including four who were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Authorities have not released their names, but arrest warrants identified them as Lisa Glynne, Georgette Whitlow, Jazmine Daniel, and Alisha Hollinger. Police said Whitrow was shot in her arm, Glynn in her abdomen, Daniel in her abdomen multiple times and Hollinger in her face. Two remained in intensive care on Friday, one was being transferred from her ICU and the fourth was released.
A fifth victim, 38-year-old Amy St. Pierre, died at the scene.
Point-Kelly also called 911 from the bathroom, but police did not share the audio of her call. At the time, she was horrified that Bridges was one of her victims, she told Channel 2, but responding officers were able to reunite the two of her.
“We just hugged each other and all we could see were bodies on the ground,” Point-Kelley said.
The suspected shooter, Dion Patterson, 24, was on the run for hours Wednesday before being found in Cobb County and taken into custody. He said he was looking for medicine for his illness.
Bridges told the news station that she has faced death in her long life, including being run over by a bus.
